NEWS as of OCT/NOV 2007: Upcoming shows, work on new album at Haywire Studio in Portland, Halloween w/ MISFITS, KEXP/NW Immigrant Rights Benefit, etc.

News, Shows, New Members, New Album…
—Doug Starcevich, an old friend from the way back days, will now be playing bass while Richie Parish will be moving from bass to his favorite instrument, guitar. IT SOUNDS LIKE A NEW BAND and IS MAKING US ALL VERY HAPPY!

—We are currently tracking album #4 at Haywire Studios in Portland, OR with audio wizard Rob Bartleson (Wilco, Pink Martini, Pond, 30.06, etc.). I will try to post a rough mix sometime in the next 2 mos. This European-written underground masterpiece should be out the beginning of 2008.

—Wednesday, October 31, 2007. Mars Bar: Halloween MISFITS cover night with a bunch of other bands. “20 Eyes in my head… They’re all the same, They’re all the same…” Richie will be singing and leading most of these tunes. This should be fun and done by midnight. Coordinated by the folks at Nadamucho.com.

—Saturday, November 3, 2007. High Dive. KEXP Audioasis benefit for NW Immigrants Right Project. We play early right at 9:30. A lot of my students have been immigrants. Being an immigrant can be rough. Help the cause. In the words of the legendary Rob Halford, the four piece will be fully “Hot Rockin” by then. Also partially sponsored by Nadamucho.com. With our buddies: THE VALLEY, the New Faces, Head Like a Kite, and Good Dream Bad Breakfast

Hope all well & hope to see or hear from you soon. -ATS

Official Release Day: Album #3, “Sonic Resistance”

Amigas & Amigos:

At the Spine have officially released our 3rd LP titled Sonic Resistance today, May 1, 2007 (International Workers Day for those of you who care about workers…).

It is now available for purchase online at: http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/atthespine3 and in the Seattle area at Sonic Boom, Everyday Music, Cellophane Square, and soon Easy Street records. (Digital distro will take a few more days…).

We have apparently already received enough airplay in last week to hit number 16 on the local charts at Rainydawg Radio at the UW and number 59 at KEXP for last week.

If you are so inclined we would greatly appreciate some polite email and phone call requests to KEXP at: 206.903.KEXP or dj@kexp.org to try to get this on the air a bit more. (Also your local college/independent station as we have sent 350 albums out to national radio and press in the last few weeks).

We would also love it if you could attend this event. Not only is it a double CD release, but also a benefit for Real Change Newspaper and a birthday party. We will play at 10 pm to accommodate several factors.

Global Seepej Records is celebrating 10 years of our efforts to support the many variations of the NW music scene.

GSR was founded in 1996 as a multimedia venue to support musicians, artists, writers, poets, journalists, and filmmakers that support and participate in the struggle for social, economic, and environmental justice.

We may not be the biggest, best, or richest label in town, but we do what we can in a crooked industry with the time and money that we have.

October 5th, 2006

At the Spine is back from 7 months of self-imposed exile in UK & EU and has kindly been asked to headline the annual NadaMucho.com Birthday Bash on Saturday October 21st at the Sunset Tavern. This will be our first show back in the USA and a great to chance to celebrate with us and anyone that you know who has a birthday around this time. We’ll be doing our best to light it up and celebrate this event in rock n roll style.

US Tour finished, half of 3rd album done, off to London/UK/EU

AT THE SPINE finished our 9 week self financed US tour (where Chris & Mike also played as Colin Spring’s backing band). We have recorded and mixed 7 new songs. Mike is in London teaching and working on playing/touring London/UK/EU. If you have any rock contacts to help him, please let him know. GO-KART records of Germany has put the song “Kiss and Remeber” on a new compilation album and they are expecting to press between 20,000 and 80,000 copies. Best wishes for all of you good folks in 2006!

Tour Update from October 21st, 2005

We have already been on the road for over a month and the welcomed rigors of the road have now become second nature. Our equipment, van, and bodies remain in adequate condition as we head southeast to sample fried food, see the sights, and play for whomever is brave enough to battle the weather. If you live in the area, please come and watch our entirely humble selves perform the music of Mike Toschi and Colin Spring south of the Mason-Dixon.

Tour Update: 2 weeks into 9…

September 28th, 2005

Tomorrow marks two weeks on the road for At the Spine. So far our shows have been a success and we are all in one piece. Aside from a van breakdown in North Dakota, we have been relatively fortunate. Today we are in Lawrence, Kansas playing Jackpot. If you are in the area or know anyone who is, come check out the show. Thanks for visiting the site, check back every so often for general news and updates on the tour. For more detailed thoughts on the tour from the perspective of our Bass player Matt, visit his tour journal at www.mattdente.com/tourjournal.

September 14th, 2005

At the Spine hits the road for our U.S. tour tomorrow, September 15th, with our first show in Spokane, Washington. Please check out the site throughout the tour for news and tour dates in your area.

Matt Dente, our bass player, is also keeping an online tour journal (www.mattdente.com/tourjournal) where you can read about each tour date from Matt’s perspective.

Thanks, and we’ll see you soon.
